We are preparing for cool evenings. Recommendations for choosing a warm blanket

Autumn nights are already quite chilly today, so it's time to choose a warm blanket. What should you pay attention to? First of all, a blanket should create warmth and comfort during rest, be light, and also safe. Today, ARCORPORATION experts tell you how to choose the best model for cool autumn or frosty winter.

Interesting fact! Blankets first appeared in the 14th century in Bristol, England. They were made by the weaver Thomas Blanket.

The size of the blanket is important

Choosing the size of the blanket should be based on the dimensions of the bed. The size should be sufficient to cover the sleeping surface, and it is desirable to leave a few centimeters to tuck it in at the edges. It is also important that the blanket matches the size of the under blanket.

The main dimensions of blankets:

  • one and a half bedrooms — 140x205 cm;

  • double room — 170x205 cm;

  • euro — 200x220 cm.

Quality filling = healthy sleep

The main component that determines the softness, weight and thermoregulation of the blanket is the filling. There are many materials used by modern manufacturers, globally they are divided into 2 types: natural and artificial. Let's consider in more detail.

Natural fillings include:

  1. Cotton. This material is mostly used for the production of demi-season models (density 150-250 g/m2). Such blankets are light and create a feeling of comfort during sleep.

  2. Wool. The material has high thermal conductivity, so it is ideal for cold winters. It can also be used in cool autumn if you don't have enough warmth from demi-season models. As a rule, such models are made with a density of 350-450 g/m2.

  3. Fluff/feather. Advantages include excellent thermoregulation, lightness and durability. However, there are several disadvantages, first of all, it is a high price. You should also be careful if you are prone to allergies. The density of such blankets is 350-450 g/m2.

Artificial fillers include:

  1. Siliconized fiber. The material can be made of acrylic, polyester, polyester or other synthetic fibers. Both demi-season and warm winter blankets are made from this material. The level of density varies from 150 to 450 gr/sq.m.

  2. Artificial bamboo fiber. It is made of polyester and has good breathability and thermoregulatory properties. Density level — from 150 to 450 g/m2.

  3. Artificial swan down. It is made of polyester and has all the advantages of blankets made of natural down, in addition, this material is hypoallergenic. Density level — from 150 to 450 g/m2.

These are the main types of quilt fillings offered in the industry today. In addition to these materials, blankets are made of silk fibers, viscose, and others.

Tenderness of touch — choose a cover

As with the filling, the cover can be natural or artificial. But in addition to the raw material, the type of fabric is also important, because the tactility of the blanket depends on it.

The most popular type of cover is microfiber. The fabric is incredibly soft and has a silky texture. Most often, it is made of polyester fibers, but other materials can also be used.

Microfiber covers are followed by calico or ranforsa covers - these models are made of natural cotton. They are soft, warm and durable.

Which blanket is better to order?

Summing up, choose a blanket that creates a comfortable atmosphere just for you. It is important that you are warm enough, but not hot, so be guided by the individual characteristics of the body.
